Watering a Neighbor's Plants
A friendly neighborly exchange. Practice the conversation of a neighbor asking you to water their plants while they are away, and how you can agree to help.
Situations
Choose from 6 conversations to practice
Initial Request for Help
Your neighbor approaches you, explaining they'll be away and asking if you'd be willing to water their plants. This involves understanding their needs and showing willingness.
Agreeing and Clarifying Details
You agree to help, and the conversation moves to clarifying specific details like how often to water, where the plants are located, and how to access their home.
Receiving Instructions and Keys
Your neighbor provides you with specific instructions for each plant (e.g., 'this one needs less water', 'use the fertilizer for that one'), and hands over a spare key.
Confirming Arrangement Before Departure
Just before they leave, your neighbor sends a quick text or has a brief chat to confirm you have the keys and remember the main instructions.
During the Watering Task
You are watering the plants and notice something unexpected, like a plant looking unwell, or a minor issue with the house. You decide whether to contact your neighbor.
Post-Task Update / Neighbor's Return
Your neighbor has returned. You return the keys and give a brief update on how the plants are doing, and they express their gratitude.
